Duluth mayor Don Ness goes over the top during city festival fundraiser

As part of a fundraiser, Mayor Don Ness and other dignitaries rappelled down a nine-story building.

Duluth Mayor Don Ness rappelled down a nine-story building Wednesday as part of a fundraiser for downtown during the city’s Sidewalk Days.

Ness — who’s proving to be a fun-loving, adventurous mayor in the R.T. mode, got some attention last winter with a “Gangnam Style” parody and then reprised it for April’s MinnRoast — made the descent without mishap.

“When you step off, you realize how tall of a building that really is,” Ness told the Duluth News Tribune.

Also going over the edge to kick off the fundraiser was state Sen. Roger Reinert.
