A new effort is under way to find ways to improve the aging process.
The AgePower Tech Search is looking for technologies from start-ups, innovators or long-established companies that can help provide “a positive, near-term impact” on aging.
The competition was devised by Ecumen, a nonprofit senior housing and services company, and MOJO Minnesota, an innovation cooperative focused on Minnesota’s startups.
Organizers say the effort will help harness the “great power and potential of innovation in an unprecedented demographic transformation, and the opportunity for Minnesota to lead in a brand new global market space in need of new solutions.”
The selected technologies — they’re looking for up to four finalists — will get real-life testing in the Ecumen system, along with help from MOJO’s business advisors, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors, engineers and others.
The expectation is that this assistance will “help expedite a move to market either through a company’s own investment, outside investment, acquisition by an investor or other means.”
Applications can be made online until Oct. 31.
The project has a launch on Aug. 13, at 4:30 p.m., at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School’s Hanson Hall.
