Four Minnesota institutions of higher learning are included in a Top 25 list of LGBT-friendly colleges around the country.
The ranking, by Campus Pride, was based on policies affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students.
These Minnesota schools made the Top-25 list:
- Carleton College
- Macalester College
- University of Minnesota, Duluth
- University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
To get the rankings, 380 public and private colleges and universities answered more than 50 questions, which fit into eight categories:
- LGBT Policy Inclusion
- LGBT Support & Institutional Commitment
- LGBT Academic Life
- LGBT Student Life
- LGBT Housing
- LGBT Campus Safety
- LGBT Counseling & Health
- LGBT Recruitment and Retention Efforts
UMD Chancellor Lendley C. Black celebrated the high ranking:
