Mile-long St. Paul walk Wednesday will commemorate 1963 March on Washington

Congressman Keith Ellison will lead a mile-long march to the state Capitol in St. Paul on 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech.

Minnesotans will march to the state Capitol Wednesday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Aug. 28, 1963, March on Washington and Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech.

Marchers will gather at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Frank Boyd Park, at Selby and Farrington.

The one-mile march to the Capitol will begin at 11 a.m. and end on the south end of the Capitol Mall, where Congressman Keith Ellison and others will speak. A reading of the famous MLK Jr. speech is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
