Vadnais Heights makes national list of financially troubled cities

Vadnais Heights has the dubious distinction of making a list of 20 cities around the country facing serious financial trouble.

In the wake of the Detroit bankruptcy filing, Newsmax, a conservative news site, published a “worry list” of cities in a boatload of financial trouble, based on bond ratings and other data:

#18: Vadnais Heights, Minn. The Minneapolis suburb of Vadnais Heights had its debt rating downgraded to junk last fall by Moody’s after the city council voted to stop payments to a sports center financed by bonds.

But hey, what do they know? Vadnais is a St. Paul suburb.

No other Minnesota cities made the list.
