Four St. Paul bars offer a free beer to shut out government workers, today only

Four St. Paul bars are offering a free beer to shut out government workers, from 4 to 6 p.m., today only.

The deal is for one free domestic bottle or draft beer on Oct. 1 at The Liffey, Burger Moe’s, Tom Reid’s and Eagle Street Grille. Government ID required.

“Without getting into politics, the government shutdown isn’t good for anybody,” said Kevin Geisen, owner of Eagle Street Grille. “We want government employees to know we think they are all essential, we support them and their first round is on us.”

The offer was organized by  Visit Saint Paul, the city’s convention and visitors bureau.
