Republican candidates for the U.S. House 6th District seat have been invited to a debate Nov. 4 at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph.
So far, candidates Phil Krinkie, John Pederson and Rhonda Sivarajah have confirmed that they’ll take part in the 7 p.m. event. Tom Emmer also has been invited.
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is not seeking re-election next year, opening up the Republican seat. Hotel magnate Jim Graves, who came close to Bachmann in 2012, canceled his plans for a rematch when Bachmann decided to step down.
The Nov. 4 debate is sponsored by the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University College Republicans, Minnesota Senate District 13 Republicans and the Eugene J. McCarthy Center for Public Policy and Civic Engagement.
The debate will be in Gorecki Conference Room 204 at St. Ben’s.
Two DFL candidates have announced for the race: Jim Read, a political science professor at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University, and Judy Adams of Circle Pines.
