GOP U.S. Senate forum to feature three of four candidates

A candidates forum for Republicans hoping to run against U.S. Sen. Al Franken will be held in Carver County Oct. 14, but only three of the four declared candidates are on the agenda.

The Carver County Republicans are hosting the 6 p.m. event at Chaska High School.

Scheduled to appear are:

  • State Sen. Julianne Ortman
  • State Rep. Jim Abeler
  • St. Louis County Commissioner Chris Dahlberg

Missing from the list is a fourth declared candidate, finance executive Mike McFadden.

(DFLers quickly jumped on the news that McFadden has decided not to attend. “Next week’s forum would have been another chance for him to answer questions about issues in front of voters, but apparently that’s not really who Mike McFadden’s interested in having a conversation with,” said DFL Chair Ken Martin.)

Republican National Committeewoman Janet Beihoffer will moderate the Chaska event.

The reservations page for the event suggests a $15 per person donation to attend.
