The question as to who will direct the musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra at two concerts this weekend has been answered in a big way.

Osmo Vänskä, who resigned Monday, will be conducting the concerts Friday and Saturday.

Musicians announced this morning that Vänskä will conduct as a way of saying “thank you to music lovers’’ in the Twin Cities.

Musicians also announced that the conductor, credited with lifting the orchestra to heights of international acclaim, will not do interviews with the media.

Vänskä has been careful not to verbally take sides in the lockout, now into its second year. But at least to the musicians and their supporters, this action will speak louder than words.
