The unemployment rate in Minnesota dropped again in November, falling to 4.6 percent, state officials reported today. The national rate is 7 percent.
The state rate drop came even though state employers cut 800 jobs in the month.
A loss in government jobs, down 3,200, was the biggest stumbling block for the month. But private-sector jobs jumped 2,400.
And the number of jobs gained in October was revised upward by 1,000.
DEED Commissioner Katie Clark Sieben sees the bright side in the numbers.
“The labor market continues to show steady improvement, with the number of unemployed Minnesotans now below pre-recessionary level. The state economy is growing and outperforming the rest of the country in many key categories.”
