Former state Rep. Karla Bigham to seek Washington County Board seat

Bigham, who served two terms in the Legislature, will challenge first-term Commissioner Autumn Lerke.

Karla Bigham, a DFLer who served two terms in the state House of Representatives, says she’ll run for a seat on the Washington County Board of Commissioners.

She’ll challenge first-term Commissioner Autumn Lehrke, who unseated longtime Commissioner Myra Peterson in 2010.

The District 4 seat covers many cities and townships in the southern portion of the county, including Cottage Grove.

Bigham was first elected to the state House in 2006 and was re-elected in 2008 but didn’t seek re-election in 2010. She also has served on the Cottage Grove City Council, and she recently earned a master’s degree in public affairs.
