Rep. Ellison’s ‘Best Books’ listed in The Week magazine

Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison entered the national literary realm with his autobiography, “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee.”

Now, The Week magazine highlights Ellison’s reading habits by listing his six favorite books in its weekly “Book List” feature.

(I check this book list feature religiously because a few years ago it led me to intrigue novelist Alan Furst, who is now very high in my author Pantheon.)

Ellison’s six:

  • “The Autobiography of Malcolm X”
  • “The Warmth of Other Suns” by Isabel Wilkerson
  • “Deer Hunting With Jesus” by Joe Bageant
  • “Who Stole the American Dream?” by Hedrick Smith
  • “Twelve Years a Slave” by Solomon Northup
  • “Team of Rivals” by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
