Two interim presidents named for MnSCU system

Two interim presidents have been named for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.

Devinder Malhotra will be interim president of Metropolitan State University, and Lisa Larson will be interim president of North Hennepin Community College. Both start the jobs July 1.

Malhotra has been provost and vice president for academic affairs at St. Cloud State University since 2009. He succeeds Sue Hammersmith, who is retiring after six years as Metro State president.

Larson has been acting president of North Hennepin Community College since June 2013. She got the acting president job when John O’Brien took a term as MnSCU’s interim vice chancellor for academic and student affairs. O’Brien has now been named senior vice chancellor of academic and student affairs, and Larson’s title is upgraded to interim president.

Other MnSCU appointments announced are:

  • Leon Rodrigues was named MnSCU’s chief diversity officer
  • Ramon Padilla was named vice chancellor of information technology and chief information officer.
