DEED issues new ‘Employer’s Guide to Employment Law Issues in Minnesota’

A new edition of “An Employer’s Guide to Employment Law Issues in Minnesota” is now available from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

The new edition — the 12th — includes sections on the Affordable Care Act and health care portability.

The agency says the book “provides a broad overview of federal and state laws that pertain to the employee-employer relationship and offers guidance for hiring and managing employees, developing employment policies and avoiding liability for employment law violations.”

DEED Commissioner Katie Clark Sieben said:

“Employers and employees are linked in a dynamic relationship that is subject to a variety of social, economic and legal factors.”

DEED developed the book with the Minneapolis law firm of Lindquist & Vennum.

It’s available online (PDF) or in print or on CD-ROM from DEED’s Small Business Assistance Office, First National Bank Building, 332 Minnesota St., Suite E200, St. Paul, MN 55101-1351; telephone 651-259-7476 or 800-310-8323; or email at

Lindquist & Vennum also has free copies at its offices in the IDS Center in downtown Minneapolis.
