Bill Hudson, who left his job as president of the Catholic Totino Grace High School in Fridley last year after revealing that he is in a gay relationship, has been promoted to head of school at Mounds Park Academy in St. Paul.
Hudson had worked 20 years at Totino, eventually becoming president, but left last June after he revealed to the school’s board that he was in an 18-year relationship with a man. A Totino board member said at the time that “living in a committed same-sex relationship is not consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.”
There was considerable media coverage of the flap, and three weeks later, Mounds Park Academy hired Hudson as an administrator. This week, he was named head of school, which has about 500 students from pre-K to 12th grade.
“My story is a happy one, you know. And I’ve been able to come full circle,” he told WCCO-TV.
