Minnesota veterans gather at Capitol Monday for ceremony and lobbying

The annual Veterans Day on the Hill includes a 10 a.m. ceremony, followed by the opportunity to meet with legislators.

Military veterans from around Minnesota will appear at the state Capitol Monday for the annual Veterans Day on the Hill event.

Featured will be a 10 a.m. ceremony in the Capitol rotunda, with the presentation of colors and remarks, followed by pre-scheduled meetings with legislators to discuss veterans’ issues.

Organizers urge those attending to: “Wear your hats, colors or insignias so you are easily recognized.”

Sponsors include:

  • Minnesota Commanders’ Task Force (CTF)
  • United Veterans Legislative Council
  • Minnesota Association of County Veterans Service Officers
  • Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs

The CTF legislative agenda includes streamlining of certification of veteran-owned businesses, a military-pension tax exemption and a change so that veterans with 100 percent service-connected disabilities can take advantage of the motor vehicle registration tax exemption.
