With Rep. Paymar not running, DFL will seek successor in District 64B on Sunday

The highly contested DFL endorsing convention in District 64B will be held Sunday at St. Paul Central High School, where delegates will attempt to pick their choice of a replacement for state Rep. Michael Paymar.

Paymar is not seeking re-election after nine terms, which means a rare window for a new face in the very blue St. Paul district.

One of the candidates, Beth Fraser, currently state deputy secretary of state, this week announced support from nine current legislators and two former lawmakers, including former state Senate Majority Leader John Hottinger of Mankato.

Said Hottinger: “Where all others in the field are essentially equal in their commitment to causes dear to the DFLers in 64B, Beth’s real world of 17 years of experience far eclipses anything else others can bring to the Capitol.”

Also seeking the nomination are Matt Freeman, Melanie McMahon, Dave Pinto, Gloria Bergstrom and Gloria Zaiger.

    One sided story

I’m extremely disappointed Joe! You gave most of the space to one candidate, and everyone else is just an also ran?

This is not what I expect from MN Post. It’s not much more than a Beth Fraser press release.
