Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is one of the featured political speakers on a conservative political Caribbean cruise in November.

The cruise is sponsored by the National Review.

Also on the list of three-dozen speakers is James Lileks, columnist for the Star Tribune. Pawlenty and Lileks were also speakers on the cruise in 2011.

Prices start at about $2,000 per person, for an inside double cabin. The Crown Loft Suite with balcony is $5,999 per person for a double; $9,999 for a single.

  1. That sounds like a fascinating cruise

Evidently there is no paint drying on the railings of the decks of the cruise ship to watch between trips to the buffet, so T-Paw will regale passengers with tales of how his policies stagnated economic growth and effective government in the upper Midwest for 8 years (starting off with the customary joke about how Mary Pawlenty eviscerated him at breakfast – I’ve survived some of his talks before and know the program.) That should drive most people off ship, happily seeking out local vendors to buy trinkets from or the nearest beach bar. Are the island merchants paying his speaker’s fee, or is Carnival Cruises providing a competitor with “entertainment” in an attempt to recover some of the passengers lost due to their “broken motors and raw sewage” cruise a couple years ago?
