On Monday, Gov. Mark Dayton will formally sign the bill raising Minnesota’s minimum wage in the Capitol rotunda at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
The bill, opposed by Republicans as being too much, too fast, was passed by the state House Thursday, after the Senate had given approval the day before.
Large businesses, with over $500,000 in sales, will have to pay minimum wage workers more, in steps, until their wages hit $9.50 an hour in 2016; smaller business will pay $7.75 in 2016. The increases will then be indexed to inflation.
While many legislators who supported the bill are likely to attend, the full Legislature is on its Passover/Easter break until April 22.
