St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman has named a new communications director and spokesperson: Tonya Tennessen.
She replaces Joe Campbell, who left the mayor’s office to be marketing director for MNsure.
Tennessen said in a statement:
“I have long admired the Mayor’s focus on economic development, his collaborative approach with the business community and his advocacy around education policy issues. I look forward to supporting these key initiatives and engaging residents and stakeholders through effective communications strategies.”
Tennessen has been an account director at the Weber Shandwick public relations firm for six years; before that, she worked for the state DFL party as communications manager.
She also worked for one year as press secretary for Gov. Mark Dayton, when he was in the U.S. Senate. And she was communications director for Kelly Doran, when he ran for governor as a DFLer in 2006.
