Two new presidents have been named in the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MnSCU) system.
- Anne Blackhurst will be the new president of Minnesota State University Moorhead, effective July 1
- Leslie McClellon will be president of Rochester Community and Technical College starting July 1
Blackhurst will replace Edna Szymanski, who has been president of MSUM since 2008 and will retire in June.
Blackhurst has been provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Minnesota State University Moorhead since 2011.
Previously, she served at Minnesota State University, Mankato as acting vice president for academic and student affairs from 2010 to 2011, as interim dean and dean of graduate studies and research from 2006 to 2010, as chair of the department of counseling and student personnel from 2000 to 2001 and 2005 to 2006, and as professor in the department of counseling and student personnel from 2004 to 2011.
In Rochester, McClellon will succeed Gail O’Kane, who has been serving as interim president since July 2013, after the retirement of Don Supalla, who’s been RCTC president since 2000.
McClellon has been vice president of student affairs at the Community College of Denver since 2010. Previously, she served at Arizona Western College as dean of student retention and support services from 2006 to 2010, at Langston University (Oklahoma) as assistant to the vice president for student services from 2000 to 2006 and executive assistant to the vice president of student affairs from 1998 to 2000, and at Oklahoma’s Wright Business School as dean of students from 1996 to 1998.
