President Bill Clinton will be in town June 9 to accept the Dean’s Award for Public Leadership from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
The 5:30 p.m. Northrop Auditorium event will be part of the Humphrey School’s series of events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Eric Schwartz, Humphrey School dean, said Clinton “has often spoken about how his political identity was largely forged during the civil rights struggles of the 1960s.”
Tickets for the event are $50 and will be available starting at noon Tuesday. Organizers say proceeds will support public affairs student scholarships designed to promote diversity and inclusion in the Civil Rights Act’s spirit.
Co-sponsors are: the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance, the Center on Women and Public Policy, the Human Capital Research Collaborative, and the Roy Wilkins Center for Human Relations and Social Justice.
