Gov. Mark Dayton is in St. Cloud today to help city officials kick off construction of a parking ramp and improvements to the local convention center.
This year the Legislature passed and Dayton approved $11.6 million in state funding for the ramp, aesthetic improvements near a trail behind the River’s Edge Convention Center and improvements to the older part of the building.
City officials have long sought the money for these improvements and will celebrate today with the governor and local legislators at a 1:30 p.m. public event.
Design of the project is nearly done and the city will seek bids on the project this summer, with construction to start soon and be finished in fall 2015.
