More bad weather delays Dayton’s trip to flood-stricken southwestern Minnesota

Due to more rocky weather, the governor will talk with local officials by phone today, then visit Luvurne and Edgerton on Friday and International Falls on Tuesday.

Earlier today Gov. Mark Dayton had announced that, weather permitting, he would fly to southwestern Minnesota this afternoon to visit areas hard hit by heavy rains and flooding over the weekend.

The weather didn’t permit.

The trip has been postponed until Friday. The governor’s office said he’ll talk by phone today with local officials in the affected areas, then fly to Luvurne and Edgerton Friday to personally view the area and discuss recovery efforts.

On another storm front, the governor plans to visit International Falls on Tuesday to visit flood-stricken areas in the far northern part of the state. Heavy rains in the past week have caused major problems in Koochiching County area.
