Jeff Johnson, the GOP-endorsed candidate for governor, is home from the hospital after emergency stomach surgery, and is airing his first TV ad with two weeks left before the Aug. 12 primary.

Johnson said on his Facebook page that he lost a week of campaigning, but is back in action “albeit maybe at a little slower pace for a few days.”

Johnson’s 30-second ad, available on YouTube, shows him riding on a driver’s training course while his son drives. Johnson compares his son’s poor driving to what he calls Gov. Mark Dayton’s problems with navigating state government.

“The only thing [Dayton] gets right are the hard left turns,” Johnson says in the ad.

Johnson faces Scott Honour, Marty Seifert and Kurt Zellers in the primary; the winner will take on Dayton in November’s general election.

  1. His son drives like dad

So far to the right he is sending his party over the cliff. With this ad and McFadden’s ad we have a new version of dumb and dumber.
