Jonathan Sage-Martinson to direct planning and economic development in St. Paul

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman has selected Jonathan Sage-Martinson to be the city’s new director of planning and economic development.

He replaces Cecile Bedor, who resigned in May to join Greater MSP, the Twin Cities’ regional economic development organization.

Sage-Martinson has 15 years’ experience in community and economic development, the mayor’s office said, including the Central Corridor Funders Collaborative, where he was director.

He’s also been executive director of SPARC, associate director of the Green Institute and was involved with the Phalen Corridor Initiative and the Great Northern Corridor.

In a statement, he lauded Coleman’s efforts to reach “out to a broad coalition of economic development stakeholders – from the business and development community, to the non-profit community, to the state and federal government and beyond, looking to create synergies and build the most livable city.”

He’ll start with the city on Aug. 4.
