Speaker Boehner coming to Minneapolis for Aug. 14 GOP fundraiser

A luncheon during the congressional recess will raise money as Republicans try to gain more seats in Minnesota’s delegation.

U.S. House Speaker John Boehner is scheduled to attend an Aug. 14 fundraiser in Minneapolis, as Republicans work to pick up additional House seats in Minnesota in the Nov. 4 election.

MPR News says the minimum donation to attend the lunch at the Minneapolis Club is $1,000, and proceeds will be split “between Boehner’s campaign, the National Republican Congressional Committee and a variety of other political fundraising committees.”

Minnesota GOP Rep. John Kline and Erik Paulsen are sponsors. The third state Republican House member, Michele Bachmann, isn’t seeking re-election and isn’t on the sponsor list.

National Republicans are pushing hard to pick up more of Minnesota’s eight House seats from the Democrats, with a focus on Torrey Westrom in the 7th District challenging Collin Peterson, and Stewart Mills taking on Rick Nolan in the 8th District.
