The Minnesota Farm Union Political Action Committee has endorsed Gov. Mark Dayton for a second term.

The Farm Union PAC had endorsed Dayton in 2010, after Dayton won the DFL primary.

Another state farm group, the Minnesota Farm Bureau PAC, endorsed Republican candidate Tom Emmer in the 2010 race; that group has yet to weigh in on the 2014 governor’s race, as four GOP candidates are still competing for the party nomination in the Aug. 12 primary.

In a statement about this year’s endorsement of Dayton and running mate Tina Smith, Minnesota Farm Union PAC Chair Doug Peterson said:

“Governor Dayton and Tina Smith have demonstrated a fierce commitment to Minnesota’s rural communities, farmers and our state’s farming tradition, From supporting renewable fuels to strong leadership on crisis issues like drought and propane shortages, Governor Dayton is a proven friend of rural Minnesota.”
