Forum in Shoreview considers: ‘How men can help prevent domestic violence’

Ramsey County officials will discuss domestic violence prevention, and the role men can play, at a community forum tonight in Shoreview.

The topic is: “How Men Can Play a Key Role in Preventing Domestic Violence.”

Organizers say that domestic violence is traditionally considered a “women’s issue,” even though 95 percent of domestic violence acts are committed by men. They want to change that focus and look at ways all men can help in prevention.

The forum, at the Shoreview Community Center, 4580 Victoria St. N., will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., with a reception at 6 p.m.

Featured will be a victim of domestic violence victim’s personal story, along with Ramsey County Attorney John Choi, Undersheriff Jack Serier and Commissioners Blake Huffman and Victoria Reinhardt.
