A discussion of MNsure’s challenges and opportunities will be held Friday at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, as the enrollment period approaches for year two of the state’s health exchange.
The event, free and open to the public, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Cowles Auditorium, 301 19th Av. S., Minneapolis, and will feature:
- Joel Ario, managing director, Manatt Health Solutions, New York
- Julie Brunner, executive director, Minnesota Council of Health Plans
- Scott Leitz, CEO, MNsure
- Christopher Snowbeck, Star Tribune health care business reporter
Enrollment for next year opens Nov. 15, and organizers of the discussion say:
Minnesotans wonder whether the health insurance system will be more effective, easier to navigate and financially self-sufficient. Most of the enrollment in 2014 was in public programs, but one of MNsure’s primary purposes is to increase enrollment in private health care insurance plans.
Larry Jacobs of the Humphrey School, who will moderate the discussion, says:
“… the future of the program relies on expanding enrollment in its private insurance markets and creating a smooth and attractive experience for consumers. We are bringing together the key players to break down the challenges and opportunities.”
