State Sen. Tom Bakk, the DFL Senate Majority Leader from Cook in northeastern Minnesota, hosted a food shelf fundraiser Wednesday night that generated more than $100,000 for 21 food shelves in the state’s Arrowhead region.
Gov. Mark Dayton also attended the event at the Liffey Irish Pub in St. Paul. The event has raised more than $600,000 for food shelves over the past eight years.
“Even with a recovering economy, job losses and rising food costs mean more families are stretched to the limit,” Bakk said.
