Gov. Dayton’s second term kicks off with Monday noon inauguration

Gov. Mark Dayton will take the oath of office for his second term at noon today, in an all-DFL state constitutional officer inauguration ceremony at St. Paul’s Landmark Center.

Joining him will be new Lt. Gov. Tina Smith, who was elected along with Dayton in November. The previous Lt. Gov., Yvonne Prettner Solon, did not seek reelection.

Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie Skjerven Gildea is scheduled to administer the oath of office.

Also to be inaugurated for their third four-year terms are Attorney General Lori Swanson and Auditor Rebecca Otto. Steve Simon will be sworn in as the new Secretary of State, replacing Mark Ritchie, who also did not seek reelection.
