The Republican Party of Minnesota’s annual Lincoln Reagan Dinner next month will feature South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott as the main speaker, with an appearance by former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

The Feb. 19 dinner is at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Minneapolis.

Scott had been a South Carolina U.S. Representative until he was appointed to the Senate in 2013 by Gov. Nikki Haley; he then won a special election for the seat.

His official Senate bio says he worked his way out of humble beginnings by building a successful Allstate insurance agency.

After eight years as Minnesota’s governor, Pawlenty now works as head of a financial industry advocacy group, the Financial Services Roundtable, based in Washington, D.C.

Last year’s Lincoln Reagan Dinner keynote speaker was Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, with an appearance by Michael Reagan.

The cost for this year’s event ranges from $75 for current legislators and $150 for individuals to $750 for a couple to attend a VIP photo reception and the dinner.
