Michele Bachmann likens President Obama to German suicide pilot

In a post on her  Facebook page, former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann compares president Obama to the German pilot who apparently deliberately flew his passenger plane into the Alps, killing all aboard.

It’s a continuation of her attacks on an Iranian nuclear deal that the U.S. is negotiating in the Middle East. She said that, with the deal, Obama is like “a deranged pilot flying his entire nation into the rocks.”

The Jerusalem Post quickly picked up the story, with the headline:

Far-right former congresswoman compares Obama to mentally ill Germanwings pilot

The Bachmann Facebook post was made at 10:57 a.m. on Mar. 31. It had 7,787 “Likes” at 11:30 .m. today.

The text of her post:

With his Iran deal, Barack Obama is for the 300 million souls of the United States what Andreas Lubitz was for the 150 souls on the German Wings flight – After the fact, among the smoldering remains of American cities, the shocked survivors will ask, why did he do it?

I don’t believe Ms. Bachman is newsworthy anymore …

now that she is no longer a US Congresswoman. Her rantings were usually absurd, and continue to be so, mostly designed to draw light to the speaker. I hope that MinnPost and other news outlets will not dignify her comments by needlessly repeating them, as it only amplifies her lunatic fringe sentiments. For news organizations to continue to cover her postings only confers undeserved legitimacy to her statements (even if they make good copy for you, much like the Kardashians and their antics do.) Statements like these will continue to be made by both right-wing and left-wing zealots about people they do not agree with, but that doesn’t mean that they deserve to be anywhere but on the zealot’s Facebook page.

I can un-Friend Ms. Bachman and her kind if her Facebook posts aggravate or offend me. Please don’t make me consider having to do the same for MinnPost because you choose to give her unwarranted coverage.
