Organizers of the Minnesota Bicycle Festival say two new sponsors — North Memorial Health Care and PreferredOne — have signed on to support the mid-June event.
The festival lost General Mills’ Nature Valley Brand as a main sponsor two years ago and there had been questions about its future.
Although festival officials had announced last month that they were going ahead with this year’s event June 17-21, they said today that the two new sponsors “saved the festival for 2015.”
Festival Director David LaPorte said: “The festival has been a crucial part of the Midwest cycling community for 17 years and it would be a real shame to lose it. Thanks to the generosity of these two companies, fans will be able to enjoy the North Star Bicycle Festival in 2015.”
The festival has events in St. Paul, Cannon Falls, Minneapolis, Menomonie and Stillwater over the five days. The highlight is the North Star Grand Prix.
