Jayne Miller, superintendent of the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, has been named to the board of the World Urban Parks organization. She’ll be one of three U.S. members on the board.
She’s been superintendent of the city Parks and Recreation Board since 2010.
The Park Board announcement of her appointment calls the World Urban Parks organization a “highly esteemed and influential group of representatives who are committed to being world-wide urban leaders in parks, recreation, public lands, and protected areas management.”
Miller said in a statement:
“I am proud to share the achievements of our world class park system and look forward to being a part of an international network of individuals and organizations who are dedicated to the advancement of city liveability and sustainable environment through parks, open space and recreation.”
The Twin Cities will host the 2017 City Parks Alliance’s International Urban Parks Conference which, officials said, “will celebrate the most innovative work happening today around urban park planning, design and programming, demonstrating the power of partnerships that create and sustain urban parks.”
