Peggy Flanagan will run unopposed Nov. 3 for the state House Seat in District 46A. The election will fill the seat vacated by Ryan Winkler, who stepped down in mid-term because his family is moving to Belgium.

Flanagan, 35, a DFLer like Winkler, was the only one to file for the seat during the filing period that ended this week. She lives in St. Louis Park and is executive director of the Children’s Defense Fund of Minnesota.

Winkler has endorsed her, as have the AFL-CIO and the SEIU.

The district includes St. Louis Park, Golden Valley, Plymouth and Medicine Lake.

Winkler’s family is moving to Belgium because his wife has taken a job there. Although he left the Legislature, Winkler will keep his job with Biothera, a Minnesota company with international operations. He’ll split his time between Minnesota and Belgium.
