Governor’s Deer Hunting Opener to be Nov. 5-7 in Mountain Iron

The annual event with the governor provides opportunities to promote tourism and hunting; this year it’s on the Iron Range.

Gov. Mark Dayton will kick off the state’s deer hunting season this year in Mountain Iron, on the Iron Range, with the annual Governor’s Deer Hunting Opener Nov. 5-7.

Many media outlets cover the event, giving the host area some tourism publicity, along with promotion of hunting. The Mountain Iron area will host a “Welcome to Camp” banquet Nov. 5; tickets are $35.

Organizers are also looking for hunter hosts, to “help spread the word by allowing media to hunt their land or visit their deer camp for the purpose of producing positive deer hunting and travel stories that are viewed or read throughout the state and Upper Midwest.”

Hunter hosts get free admission to the banquet and “a gift package provided courtesy of non-government event sponsors.”
