McFadden says he won’t run for Congress in 2nd District

Republican Mike McFadden, who lost the U.S. Senate race last year to Sen. Al Franken, says he won’t run for the 2nd District congressional seat.

Lots of names, including McFadden’s, have been floating around in that race, which opens up next year with the retirement of Republican Rep. John Kline. Many analysts say it has now become one of those rare national swing districts.

McFadden told the AP Monday that he won’t seek that seat, but instead will keep working on education issues as a board member at two area schools that work with minority students.
