The Ramsey County Bar Association will give its annual Pro Bono Award to attorney Lucas Rezac for his work in providing free legal service to poor clients.
Rezac will get the award at the association’s Bench & Bar Benefit on Nov. 7.
The group says Rezac first began volunteering as a certified student attorney at the Neighborhood Justice Center. Now in private practice, he takes several pro bono cases a year.
He was nominated for the award by Cullen Smith, director of the NJC, who said: “Rezac insists on taking the hard cases – the clients that seem hopeless … No matter the end result of the case, the client always know that Mr. Rezac did everything he could to help them.”
Smith said: “He is in it for the people. His passion for justice is infectious, and his love for people is inspiring.”
