DFL House Leader Paul Thissen travels next week to India on a State Department sponsored trip.
Colorado state Sen. Ellen Roberts, a Republican, will also go on the exchange, which is co-sponsored by the National Conference of State Legislatures.
They plan to talk with elected officials and academics about democracy and to build government relationships.
Thissen says he’ll also meet with Minnesota business leaders in India.
In a statement, Thissen said: “Minnesota has strong connections to India and I am excited to help strengthen those relationships even further. I look forward to comparing notes on significant issues that challenge any large democracy, including the role of religion, the role of income inequality, and the need to promote business development. In an increasingly interconnected world and global economy, few conversations could be more important.”
