Sex trafficking forum to be held on Sunday

After visiting a shelter for girls who’ve been victimized by sex traffickers, Blake students organized the event at the Woman’s Club of Minneapolis.

High school students have organized a forum Sunday on sex trafficking.

The event, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Woman’s Club of Minneapolis, was planned by Blake High School students, who are focusing on the issue and visited the Brittany’s Place shelter for girls who’ve been victimized.

Among the speakers will be Minneapolis Police Sgt. Grant Snyder, who specializes in the issue.

The student organizers, Libby Rickeman, Raye Gleekel, Isabel Hall, Lucy Burton and Sophie Smith, say they want to raise awareness and create a sense of urgency about the problem.
