Three DFLers running for the Second Congressional District seat will meet five times in candidate forums over the next seven weeks.
U.S. Rep. John Kline, a Republican, isn’t running for re-election, which has set off a scramble in both parties; five GOP candidates are also seeking the seat.
For the DFL, the candidates are Angie Craig, Roger Kittelson and Dr. Mary Lawrence.
The DFL forum schedule is:
- Jan. 9, Scott County Library, Prior Lake
- Jan. 10, Hastings City Hall
- Jan. 24, Burnhaven Library, Burnsville
- Jan. 31, Wentworth Library, West St. Paul
- Feb. 21, The Grand, Northfield
Organizers say the candidates will be asked a series of preprepared questions as well as questions submitted by audience members. The public is invited to attend.
Republicans seeking their party’s endorsement for the seat include former talk-show host Jason Lewis, former Sen. John Howe, former Rep. Pam Myhra, activist David Gerson and newcomer David Benson-Staebler. They debated in November in Inver Grove Heights.
