State Rep. John Lesch, a DFLer from St. Paul, has opened a criminal defense firm in downtown St. Paul.

Before going out on his own, Lesch had been a St. Paul city prosecutor for nearly 15 years. He’s also an executive officer in the Minnesota National Guard.

Blois Olson’s Morning Take noted the job change this morning.

He’s in the firm, Lesch & Duren, with Rebecca Duren, a former public defender. The firm says the two “are aggressive criminal defense attorneys who provide a personalized experience for clients who have been charged with a crime.”

From 1999-2001, Lesch was a legislative aide for Chris Coleman, who was then a St. Paul City Council Member and is now mayor.

In the Legislature, Lesch has served on the Public Safety, Judiciary, and Civil Law committees.
