The Olympics are 10 days away. The Games will be dipped in hype and excitement. And rightly so. It’s going to be a spectacular sporting event.
But these Games are also brushed with geopolitical issues and human rights debates.
Amnesty International released a compelling report last night titled: “The Olympics Countdown, Broken Promises.”
I know the United States has its own many human rights and civil rights problems to address. We are not above criticism. Amnesty International could take a few whacks at us, too.
But the Chinese authorities committed to improving their nation’s freedoms as part of their Olympic bid seven years ago.
Amnesty International’s investigation reveals that hasn’t been the case.
