DENVER — Sen. Amy Klobuchar has a (small) fan club — in American Samoa.
Marilyn Ah Ching, an American Samoa delegate to the Democratic National Convention, was wowed by Klobuchar’s Monday speech, which lasted less than five minutes.
“Just hearing her speak, I could tell she is someone to watch for the future. She’s going to get there.”
This testimonial came unsolicited.
What was there to like in such a brief time?
“She was real,” said Ah Ching. “She didn’t read the teleprompter. She spoke from the heart. She was different from the rest. I’m keeping my eye on her.”
By the way, there are only two flights a week leaving American Samoa for the mainland. It took Ah Ching almost three days to get from her home to Denver. — Doug Grow
