There is suddenly a lot more interest in a political breakfast meeting Tuesday in St. Paul. That’s because Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is the scheduled speaker.

She was booked long before she was announced today by Sen. John McCain as his vice-presidential nominee.

Now, there’s a chance she’ll be too busy to attend the 8 a.m. event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, in downtown St. Paul.

But organizer Kim Kingsley of Politico said staffers are working “very very hard” to confirm the governor’s appearance.

The event is sponsored by the Pioneer Press and Politico, a political news organization based in Virginia, in conjunction with the Republican National Convention, which begins Monday.

Kingsley said there will be notices on the sponsors’ websites here and here when Palin’s appearance is either confirmed or canceled.

The two organizations are holding political breakfasts at the Crowne Plaza each morning of the convention: other scheduled speakers are political commentators Ariana Huffington, Peggy Noonan and Tucker Carlson. More information is available here. — Joe Kimball
