How to get smart

Mpls St. Paul magazine’s November issue includes an article called “Our Best Brains,” which is not about the best brains at the magazine, but the best brains in the Twin Cities.

The cover refers to “75 really smart people — and a few smart alecks!” The article lists about 130 people, so does that mean that 55 of them are smart alecks?

Anyway, my wife, Laurie, and I are on the list as the founders of, and MinnPost board Chair Lee Lynch also made the cut.

What’s really striking is that 17 people on the list are MinnPost annual members, but that means that more than 100 of the best brains in the Twin Cities have not yet figured out how to click on the Donate button on our site and send us a few bucks. — Joel Kramer

Am I the only one who felt uneasy about the fact that almost all the “smartest people” were corporate types? I know some absolutely brilliant people who will never see the inside of an executive dining room.
