Melissa Ganje reports two students at Ashland Middle School in Duluth have received invitations to attend the Inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama. “When I opened the invitation I was like, are you serious? Oh my gosh!” said eighth-grader Maddie Auvinen. Auvinen and classmate Kaylie McCarthy were selected to attend the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. when they were fifth-graders. This summer they learned they’d been invited back to attend the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference. The girls will attend a gala ball and hear from keynote speakers Colin Powell and Al Gore.
