Rival sees Christopher Shays as head of Peace Corps

Jim Himes, who defeated U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays in the recent election, is now lobbying for the Connecticut politician to be appointed director of the Peace Corps. Ken Dixon of the Stamford Advocate reports that during an interview with the Connecticut Post’s editorial board, Himes indicated he was lobbying four other House members and will soon send a letter to Obama’s transition team touting Shays. “I believe Congressman Shays would do a wonderful job of representing our country to those nations of the world served by the Peace Corps,” Himes said.
